trucks

Hi,
I just joined the list but couldn't pass up a chance to throw out my 2
cents on this topic. I have a 94 Dodge Diesel 3/4 ton and absolutely love
it. It is rated to pull just about anything and I hardly notice the weight
of my trailer when I pull it. It is awesome pulling hills also. The only
negative thing I could say is going down hills with the weight behind.
Diesels don't have the deceleration like gas engines do so you have to hit
the brakes more. There is a solution though- an air brake can be added on
and it runs about $500, I believe. It works similarly to a "jake brake" on
the big rigs (builds up exhaust instead of releasing it and thus, slows the
engine down.) Hubby and I are seriously thinking of getting one.

I'd like to reiterate what was said about some trucks being used to pull
when they really aren't suitable. Sadly, some sales people in the car/truck
dealers and not knowledgeable enough on this ( I say some-I'm sure others
have the knowledge). The issue is more the stopping than the pulling, along
with the wheel base of the vehicle (a problem with SUVs).

Just my humble opinion,
Dede
