Re: Motorhomes as tow vehicles

We tow with a 38 foot Crosscountry with a basement and tag axle. Our
trailer is the smallest, lightest two horse we could find, and yet when we
haul over big mountains, it is a 20 mph crawl. When we get to camp, the
motorhome is definitly the place to stay, but it is a lot of work to get
there. The large vehicle also mutes any sound coming from the trailer, so we
are going to put a camera or monitor in there before next year, as I am
constantly worried what we will find in the trailer when we stop. If you go
to rides where it is wet, a four wheel drive is sure nice to get in to camp
and get out when the ride is over. We have had to be pulled out a couple of
times....also lots of hoses and electrical connections for all the utilities
under the home make it scary in the sagebrush fields...we tore off all our
rear heighth control pulling in to a campsite last year. If you get a flat
tire in a field from a piece of sagebrush running into you sidewall, it is a
major pain to change a flat on a 30,000 pound rig in the desert sand. I
would love to get rid out our motorhome and either purchase a smaller one,
or a truck and trailor. Oh, by the way, last year on the way home from a
ride, the winds were really high and even at 20mph, I didn't think we were
going to get home. Our buddys we went up with were home 6 hours before us.
