I am not sure exactly what pad you are talking about but, If its the one
that has what looks like a rubber cord along the inside web of the shoe thay
are great.As for the nails I have had mixed success with them.Some people
like them for road traction others have not.Myself I don't care for Mustad
nails.Thats just a personal thing.They seem to be really soft and I have had
trouble with them shearing off in the past.Thats just my opinion.If they work
good for your horse and farrier them wonderful.I would imagine the pad takes
some shock but not a great deal.Keep in mind when ever a horse is shod with a
pad like this it is blocked down tight so the shoe does not move up and down
on the shaft causing a loose shoe.Getting back to the pad if you are talking
about the "snowball pad" it has like a bubble in the middle.I have not used
these myself but have seen them work good on snow and mud.Hope this helps if
