an ENDURANCE question
Hi, I use a bar shoe on my arab, not exactly an egg bar as he would
pull them off. My farrier makes the shoe for my horse so it fits around
the back of the heel a litle closer and he can't grab it. We started to
use it when the horse blew an abscess out his heel and needed the shoe
for extra support because he had a hole in the heel. My horse used to
grow an amazing amount of toe and no heel. While he was in the bar shoe
the heel started to grow and he held the angle of his trimming for a
longer time as the toe also didn't shoot out as much. So even after the
abscess area healed we have continued to keep him in the bar shoe and he
has never gone better and his feet are in better shape than ever.
