    Kim, you are not alone in those sentiments.
    It can be difficult to just glean the information and leave the chaff 
behind.  Many can and do.
    "Attacking" and "Defending" is how some folks seem to initiate and 
maintain the exchange of ideas.
    "Attacking/Defending" any "belief" typically results in emotional carnage 
regardless of whether it is carried out with unbridled passion or with 
"kindness" and a smile on one's face.
    For me, the best teachers in my life have MADE me think and the better of 
those made me care.
