Hi Pat
You know I really didn't get from the person who made the statement that
she is a racist; I felt she was just responding emotionally to people
who had treated her horse badly. It would be nice if we never used
labels, but we all do. I've said more than once that sometimes I'm a
witch with a capital B (it's then that I need chocolate). I've been cut
off on the freeway by a man and maybe a little slur about his parentage
has emanated from my lips. Does that mean I think all men are bad? Well
I'm married to one so I guess not. Sometimes you have to look past the
words and just at the context. She was concerned about her horse and was
trying to come up with a derogatory word to describe the men who were
cruel to her. I believe that's all. But your point is well taken and we
should be more careful with stereotypes even when we're upset.
