About the Ride Site

The 2003 PAC race committee has spent over six years designing (and clearing, and clearing, and clearing again) a spectacular course that includes five distinct loops on the flanks of this stunning, snow-capped volcano. The 100-mile course includes miles of winding forest trails with excellent footing and stunning views of Mt. Adams.

The elevation of the trail varies from 2000-feet at its low-point to 3800-feet at its highest. This is where western Washington meets eastern Washington. On one set of trails you'll be traveling through deep lush Douglas fir forests, while on the eastern reaches of the trails you'll encounter more Ponderosa pines and clearcuts that provide surprise views of Mt. Adams, Mt. St. Helen's, and Mt. Hood and large vistas of the drier rangelands to the east.

Phases

There will be six phases with five compulsory halts:

Loop 1: 20 miles VC camp
Loop 2: 20 miles VC out (pipeline)
Loop 3: 21 miles VC out (king)
Loop 4: 15 miles VC out (king)
Loop 5: 11 miles VC camp
Loop 6: 13 miles VC camp

Vet Checks

There are five holds at three different vet checks. The first one, and the last, vet checks will be in camp. The longest holds will be at the King vet check.

Pit Stops

As per FEI requirements, you and your horse may only be assisted at designated vet checks or pit-stops. In addition to the five vet checks, there will be six designated pit-stops.
