Directions

  • Head east from Portland on I-84 for about 60 miles to Hood River, Oregon.
  • Take Exit 64, cross the Hood River Bridge north across the Columbia River.
  • Left (west) on Hwy 14 for 1 mile
  • Turn right on Alternate Hwy 141 for approximately 4 miles.
  • At junction, bear left on Hwy 141, 19 miles to Trout Lake.
  • In Trout Lake, go right at the Chevron onto Mount Adams Recreational Hwy
  • Continue 2.5 miles north
  • Turn left to the South Climb Rd, continue 4 miles on FS 80.
  • Turn left at the Mt. Adams Horse Camp.
  • Camp is ½ mile up that road on the right side.

When doubt watch for flags from the Hood River Bridge to 2003 PAC.

Note: If you're arriving from the east, along I-84 East, consider crossing over to Washington in Biggs or The Dalles. The bridge in Hood River (although convenient and safe) is quite narrow and even some of our most well-travelled endurance riders claim to get white knuckles crossing the bridge when, say, a logging truck is coming from the other direction. Not to mention the fact that Hood River charges 75-cents (for every two axels) for this hair-raising experience. Crossing in The Dalles and Biggs is free. After that just continue west on Highway 14 until the Alt. Highway 141 intersection (just west of the Hood River bridge in Bingen). Don't be fooled by taking the Highway 141 turn in Bingen to White Salmon (it will get you to Trout Lake too but that's the long, slow route, but then it does swing you by a Thriftway grocery store).
